Ozone / Prolozone

St. Louis Magazine - Top Dentist Award

Masterpiece Smiles utilizes both ozone and prolozone therapies. Ozone aids in minimizing infection after dental treatments as this therapy kills bacteria and other microorganisms. Prolozone encourages natural healing and is often used to relieve pain for TMJ treatments; prolozone also loosens up tight jaw ligaments (also aiding pain relief).

Ozone therapy is administered via an ozone-infused oil or water. Patients experience no pain. This treatment is used after a variety of dental procedures, and Dr. Frith also uses it to help restore feeling in the cheeks and gums after numbing.

Prolozone treatment is delivered via an injection. Prolozone is comprised of 1 to 3 percent oxygen and 97 to 99 percent ozone. Dr. Frith explains that this therapy "allows and helps the cell membranes to heal, improving circulation to the area, reducing inflammation and swelling while promoting stem cells and blast cells." The practice uses prolozone to help with a variety of pain issues experienced by patients; prolozone helps remediate pain for TMJ/TMD, jaw pain (or pain in the face), sinus pain, headaches, and dental infection pain.
