Before the root canal, Dr. Frith takes a mold of the existing tooth; this mold is sent to a lab that creates a one-of-a-kind crown for the patient. After the root canal, a temporary crown is placed over the tooth to protect it until the permanent crown is completed. It takes a few weeks for the lab to design the crown.
